What's Happening May 12

I haven't posted in far too long (not Long Duk Dong), and it's mostly because of failure and how busy I've been.

I tried to write a story for Whortleberry Press' summer anthology, but didn't make the deadline.  I tried to write a story for Raconteurs' Garrett and didn't make the deadline.   I've been trying to write 500 new words a day and have failed.

I still have time to finish my move themed story for Anotherealm, but that's looking shaky too.

I've been studying Greek for an end of year special I'll tell you about in a following post.  This has been taking most of my time since I can't seem to keep a Greek word in my head for as long as it takes to take a deep breath and try again.  I can't understand why this is so hard.

I coached the girls' volleyball team from our church (Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church) in the Chicago Archdiocese Junior Olympics.  Every Memorial Day weekend it is held in Palos Hills.  We made it through the first round, but got stopped in the second round.

At work we've been super busy with them requiring a rate more than double our normal throughput.  On top of that my computer died and I'm using a loaner which I can't customize and it doesn't work from home.

I've been riding my bike to work.  I have over 20 days of commuting with my bike this year and it is further than in the past two years.  This last week my oldest daughter took the van for a trip and I had to ride in every day.  That would be good, except that I'm participating with a team in a program called Exercise Across Abbott.  In this program we win a tee shirt for each team member if the total number of minutes exercised in a week exceeds the previous week's total.  The program runs for the month of May.  I don't know how I'm going to make up those minutes and exceed them next week what with the short week and all.
